{"id":6857,"date":"2024-02-14T15:54:44","date_gmt":"2024-02-14T13:54:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sitebknd28870.foondamate.com\/?p=6857"},"modified":"2024-08-27T21:34:36","modified_gmt":"2024-08-27T19:34:36","slug":"everything-you-need-to-know-about-the-nbt-2024","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sitebknd28870.foondamate.com\/id\/2024\/02\/14\/everything-you-need-to-know-about-the-nbt-2024\/","title":{"rendered":"Everything you need to know about the NBT 2024"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Some universities in South Africa will require you to write the NBTs, in addition to your Matric exams.<\/p>\n<p>If you have no idea what the NBT is, or how to prepare, don&#8217;t panic \u2014 we&#8217;ve put everything you need to know about NBTs in one place.<\/p>\n<h3>What is the NBT?<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>The National Benchmark Tests (NBT) are used to measure how academically prepared you are for university<\/li>\n<li>Most unis use your NBT marks to measure how much support you will need to complete your degree<\/li>\n<li>Not all universities require you to write the NBT. However, some unis use the NBT marks as an entrance requirement. <a href=\"https:\/\/foondamate.com\/2023\/03\/22\/universities-with-no-application-fee\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Take a look at the university&#8217;s prospectus<\/a> to find out if you need to write it<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>How many tests do you need to write for the NBT?<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>The Academic and Quantitative Literacy (AQL) Test is compulsory for anyone who applies to write the NBT.<\/li>\n<li>But the Mathematics (MAT) Test is mostly written by STEM subject students (subjects with Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics)<\/li>\n<li>Both tests are written on the same day. The AQL is written in the first session and the MAT is written in the second session<\/li>\n<li>Some degrees will require that you write both, and some will only require the AQL \u2014 so double check the requirements for the degree you&#8217;re applying for before registering to write the NBT<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>How do you register for the NBT?<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>You can register for the NBT <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbt.ac.za\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">via the NBT website<\/a><\/li>\n<li>There is a registration fee you need to pay to write the NBT<\/li>\n<li>Writing just the AQL test costs R145. Writing both the AQL and MAT costs R290<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>How to pay for the NBT<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>You can pay online on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.easypay.co.za\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">EasyPay website<\/a><\/li>\n<li>You can also make an EFT or direct deposit to <a href=\"https:\/\/nbtests.uct.ac.za\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the NBT project<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Or you can take your registration letter and money to an EasyPay point like Pick \u2018n Pay, Shoprite, Checkers or Spar to pay your NBT registration fee<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Documents needed to register for the NBT<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>You need a copy of your ID to apply<\/li>\n<li>If you don&#8217;t have an SA ID, you can also apply with your passport<\/li>\n<li>You also need to have an email address where you can receive your registration letter and info about your test date, test venue, and test results<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>What will you need on the day you write your NBT?<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>You will need to bring your proof of payment for the NBT<\/li>\n<li>You also need to bring your ID or your passport<\/li>\n<li>The only stationery you need to have is an eraser and a pencil.
